Dallas churches host evacuees from Houston
More than 60 Mennonite church members from the Houston area returned home Sept. 21-22 after evacuating because of Hurricane Ike to Dallas, where Mennonite congregations provided food, housing and other aid.

MC USA health plan approved
The Mennonite Church USA Executive Board endorsed a health care access plan to share insurance costs during its Sept. 18-20 meeting in Philadelphia and recommended that congregations and agencies enroll pastors and church workers.

A report released this spring from the Pew Foundation suggested religion in the United States is increasingly a marketplace reality. This might suggest that we’re nothing more than consumers — gluttons not only of cashew chicken or Amish potatoes but also of theology and spirituality — mixing it up, picking and choosing.
