Harvest fun
First Mennonite Church, Indianapolis, Ind.
By Priscilla BoschmannBirth: Nolan Keith, Sept. 2, to Kevin and Jen Meyers.
Wedding: Jen Gunden and Craig Barnhart, Sept. 19.
On Membership Sunday, Oct. 18, we received Marj and David Hovde and Nate Christophel Lichti as members, and Jen Christophel Lichti and Gwen White as associate members.
Jake Elias, a pastor at Parkview Mennonite Church in Kokomo, was our guest speaker on Sept. 20. This was a lead-in to the weekly Tuesday evening Bible study presented by him on the Book of Romans. This was a six-week event at our church.
The MYF visited the Indianapolis Museum of Art Sept. 27. They were treated to a guided tour on art and religion, presented by Pastor Ryan Ahlgrim. Our fellowship committee has planned quarterly Sunday potlucks for the congregation.
We had our fall party Oct. 17, a chilly fall evening, at the home of Al and Cindy Mast. Children’s activities, a warm bonfire and hot dog roast made for a fun evening.
The MYF and as many others in our congregation participated in the CROP Walk Oct. 18.
Our Harvest Dinner was on Oct. 24. As a new twist on the event this year, all food was locally grown and prepared from “scratch” by our fellowship committee. Some items on the menu were definitely from our past, like home canned pickles, home canned red beets, homemade bread and pies and home-cured ham.
