Season of thanks

Autumn has a beauty all its own. Whereas spring is the time of anticipation, autumn is the time to reflect — on the summer past, and looking forward to the winter ahead.
Autumn has a unique place in the cycle of the seasons. Absent the leaves that shaded us from the heat of summer and in anticipation of the season of dormancy, autumn is a time to catch up. And then the cycle repeats itself.
Autumn on the farm is a special memory. Ah, we have plowed the fields and scattered the good seed on the land. But it was fed and watered by God’s almighty hand. God sent the snow in winter, then warmth to germinate the grain. Then the breezes and the sunshine, and soft refreshing rain.
Autumn is the season of fullness.
The silo is full.
The haymow is full to the rafters.
The granary is full.
The potato bin is full.
The shelves are full of canned
vegetables and fruit.
