Pastor ordained
Bethel College Mennonite Church
By Monica LichtyBethel College Mennonite Church celebrated Ruth R. Harder’s ordination Sept. 27.
Calvin and Nelia Kimbrough, friends of Ruth and her husband, Jesse Graber, came from Atlanta to help with the celebration. The Kimbroughs are United Methodist pastors and resident volunteers at the Open Door Community in Atlanta, where they coordinate worship, art and music. They are co-founders of Patchwork Central in Evansville, Ind., where Ruth and Jesse came to know them as friends and ministry mentors.
Western District Conference minister Dorothy Nickel Friesen led the ordination prayer for Ruth, while members of the congregation gathered to lay hands on her. Mentors, colleagues and friends offered words of blessing. The BCMC congregation gave her a gift of a sculpture titled “Meditation” and sculpted by John Gaeddert, BCMC member.
