Radical hospitality
Zion Mennonite Church, Archbold, Ohio
By Donna RutterWe began a 10-week focus on radical hospitality Sept. 20.
Each Sunday morning’s worship service focused on some aspect of hospitality. Several Sunday school classes studied the book A Christian View of Hospitality — Expecting Surprises by Michele Hershberger. Fifty-nine members volunteered to participate in a 40-day “Radical Hospitality Experiment.” They were to be aware daily of hospitality opportunities and write down their experiences each evening. They also met in a bimonthly support group to share struggles and stories.
Mona Sauder, pastor of senior care and small groups, was recognized for her service to the congregation during the worship time on Sept. 20. She was presented with a gift of a hand-blown marble made by Mark Matthews.
Births: Jade Alexandra, Oct. 27, to Kevin and Lindsay Frey; Kinsey Mackoy, March 16, received for adoption by Ryan and Amber Yoder on Oct. 27.
