Noah’s Pudding

Special events included a congregational roundtable discussion on the theme “FMC as a multi-celled congregation” on Feb. 1; a worship service Feb. 4 featuring rock and blues music idioms; regional progressive dinners in homes on Feb. 6; a presentation and distribution of “Noah’s Pudding” (fruits, nuts and grains) by the Mosaic Foundation, an organization dedicated to increasing understanding of Arab peoples in the United States, on Feb. 22; and an Ash Wednesday service on the theme of “Prayerful Compassion” on Feb. 25.
Each of the Lenten season Sunday worship services, which were around the theme of “Prayerful Compassion,” featured congregational singing of the Holden Evening Prayer. A “Ministry Fair” was conducted on March 1 to acquaint the congregation with, and solicit support for, various avenues of church and outreach ministry.
The kickoff for monthly potluck dinners, which will be held the first Wednesday of each month, included an “Outreach Potluck” on March 4, along with discussion groups on the congregation’s international, peace and justice, urban and environmental outreach efforts.
A Lenten retreat — “Journey Inward, Journey Outward” — was directed by Pastor Annie Lengacher Browning at Sacred Heart Retreat Center in Sedalia on March 6-8.
