What the cross means to us
Norma (N.J.) Mennonite Church
By Martha BuckwalterTwelve people attended Stewardship University in Lancaster, Pa., March 7 for courses on time, talent, environment and money.
A “Stroll Through The Bible” discussion was held March 29.
Everyone brought a cross to worship on Palm Sunday. Pastor Tim Darling challenged us in a meditation on the cross the previous month to display on it what the cross means to us. Small groups formed around displays and shared more extensively.
We had communion and footwashing April 8 to prepare our hearts for Easter. We hosted the community Good Friday service. A few attended the community sunrise service at Parvin State Park. Easter breakfast was held prior to special worship.
Fifteen Women of Faith toured Lois and Dan Sauder’s greenhouses on April 19 and filled small pots with flowers and plants. Prayer requests were shared with a devotional and fellowship.
Many of the congregation attended the ordination and installation of four bishops for the Philadelphia/New Jersey District April 26 at Way Thru Christ Church in Chester, Pa. Norma’s worship team led “God of This City,” the closing worship and sending song. Bishop Tim Darling will be responsible for the New Jersey area when Bishop Freeman Miller retires the end of June. The four bishops will serve as a team.
