Dreams about new building

By Richard HarrisThe congregation called Ruth Penner of Newton to be our interim pastor from August 2009 to July 2010 while pastors Richard and Barbara Krehbiel Gehring are on service leave in Trinidad with Mennonite Mission Network and Virginia Mennonite Missions.
The congregation celebrated Holy Week services with Maundy Thursday footwashing and communion, Good Friday Stations of the Cross, and Easter breakfast, intergenerational treasure hunt and worship.
On March 27-28, Pastor Barbara Krehbiel Gehring led a women’s retreat for congregational women on death and dying. On April 26, the College Scholarship Committee hosted a fundraiser supper for students from the congregation attending Mennonite colleges.
On May 2, the congregation held a workshop to “dream” about ideas for using our land and building a new building. Bill and Julia McBride of Matfield Green gave leadership to this event.
Graduations: Pastor Richard Gehring, doctor of ministry in preaching from McCormick Seminary in Chicago; Natalie Harris, Grady Harris and Abraham Denner, from Manhattan High School; Johnathan Slate, Katie Funk and Alisha Thompson, bachelor of science from Kansas State University; Kelsie Glick, doctorate in veterinary medicine from KSU; Jan Middendorf, doctorate in education from KSU.
