Overflowing building
Martindale Mennonite Church, Ephrata, Pa.
By Carl FoxOur congregation has been working with a “good” problem: Our building is overflowing! We have felt the Lord leading us to begin a new congregation somewhere. It is not clear yet where that will be or who will be involved. Pray for us as we begin this exciting journey.
The youth group was in New York City May 1-3. They sang in subway stations, handed out CD’s and tracts. Daniel Pollard, associate pastor at Followers of Jesus Mennonite Church, was their guide for the weekend. May 16 was the annual youth benefit auction. It included supper, the auction and a bake sale. They will use the funds for their work week this summer at Mount View Nursing Home in Aroda, Va., and various other activities.
Workers Band spent two evenings doing spring cleanup for some of our senior members and also some of our neighbors in the community.
Phil Groff, pastor at Cambridge Mennonite Church, brought the message May 17. His topic was “The Best Is Yet to Come” — heaven will be better than we can imagine. Groff is the son of one of our former pastors. He used the notes from a sermon his dad preached on May 22, 1988, to prepare his message.
Births: Rylan Cole, April 3, to Dave and Elva Newswanger; Hudson James, April 22, to Steve and Janeen Martin; Derek Ryan, May 13, to Ryan and Sheila Sensenig; Hailey Grace, May 22, to Doug and Michele Zeiset.
Adoption: Brieanna Noel, by Carl and Sandy Fox, born Dec. 10, 2006, adopted May 21, 2009.
If you are vacationing in our area this summer we welcome you to join us for worship.
