Ordination and doctorate

Connie Heisey Stauffer received the 2009 Alumna of the Year award at Lancaster Mennonite School’s annual dinner theater May 2. A 1955 graduate, she served on the LMS board for 23 years, 11 as chair, and afterward as an early childhood consultant for the school.
New members received May 10: Jean Kilheffer Hess, Bruce and Ann Campbell-Janz, Jay, Marilyn and Daniel Parrish, Keith Regehr and Arli Klassen. A parent-child dedication was held for Rachel, Peter and John Reuben Eash-Scott on May 17. Megan Ramer, pastor of Chicago Community Mennonite Church, was our guest speaker May 17.
Our lead pastor, Ron Adams, received his doctor of ministry degree from Lancaster Theological Seminary May 16. His dissertation was “A History of the Conversation on the Ordination of Women in Lancaster Mennonite Conference.”
Sue Conrad has served ECSMC as licensed associate pastor since August 2005. On May 16, she was ordained with Bishop Linford King officiating. Pastor Miriam Book gave the meditation.
Agnes King, 90, died May 21. Survivors: sons Arnold, Aldus and Stanley; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
High school graduates: Ben Adams, Erich Eitzen, Willow Maxey-Wert and Levi Rempel Smucker. College graduates: Abigail Groff and Ben Noll from Goshen College; Kimberly Roth from Eastern Mennonite University; Dane Yoder from Winthrop University.
