My husband, Ronald Rich, attended a conference of the Human Rights Foundation in Oslo, Norway, May 18-20. This column is an interview with him about the event.

What is the Human Rights Foundation?

An organization, neither leftist nor rightist, that promotes basic human rights all around the world.

How many people attended?

About 150.

And how did you get invited?

Well, I support the Human Rights Foundation. I once had a long conversation with the founder, Thor Halvorssen, and greatly appreciate his work.

And who is Thor Halvorssen?

A 33-year-old who grew up in Venezuela, where his grandfather was Norway’s Ambassador, his father was jailed and tortured for dissent, and his mother, with whom I ate, was shot. Thor worked first for human rights in South America.
