Up to a challenge
By Deborah Froese Mennonite Church CanadaCARONPORT, Sask. — The Mennonite Church Canada Youth Assembly planners intended to issue a world-record-breaking challenge for packing school kits for Mennonite Central Committee.

But officials at Guinness World Records said there was no such category.
That did not deter the committee or the youth.
On July 7, assembly participants assembled more than 5,000 school kits, worth about $8 each. That total will be matched by MCC Manitoba, which will deliver the kits to Cuba.
In the spirit of “spurring one another on to good deeds” (Heb. 10:24), planning committee member Kyle Penner of Winnipeg, Man., said he would challenge Mennonite Church USA to meet or beat the record, “and I’ll send it [the information] to Guinness World Records, too.”
