Children connecting
The month of June characterized what it means for a “village” (Berlin Mennonite) to raise a child. Vacation Bible school was held June 14-18 and involved a large number of very busy people to nurture children. The Bible school kids raised more than $1,000 for Agora Christian Fellowship in Columbus as a service project. They each wrote a post card to a child from Agora, which includes many inner-city children. On June 28, 27 youth and their sponsors and delegates were surrounded with laying on of hands for a prayer of sending to the Columbus convention. The youth were responsible for the Sunday service on July 19, reporting on their experiences during the convention.

Summer growing
Under the direction of one of our members, master gardener Elizabeth Cooke, the children’s Sunday school classes participated in “Growing in God’s Garden,” spending each Sunday tilling a garden on church grounds and in the process learning about God’s bounty as well as providing fresh produce to be placed on the communion table during each worship service.
