Centennial celebration
By Susan MillerHMC celebrated its centennial with events Oct. 3-4 and Nov. 27-29.
These included intergenerational games, the opening of the 75th anniversary time capsule, the introduction and signing of the church history book by Roma Schmidt; worship services led by Cheryl Hershberger and John Murray; and a reminiscing service that included speakers Irene Weaver, Dan Johnston, Carl Wiebe, Cheryl Quiring, David Mann and Ann Showalter. On Nov. 29, participants signed commitments to “press on toward the goal to which we have been called.”

On Fall Mission Sunday, a conversation with Del, Michele and J.D. Hershberger via a Skype connection was held. The Hershbergers are teaching at Lithuania Christian College International University.
About 61 percent of “giving units” returned “intention to give” forms. The next budget will be planned according to this new method of determining church income.

Cliff and Lois Amstutz were recognized for leading the Red Cross blood drive for many years. The Hearts and Hands Sunday School Class leads a mission project, “The ER Fund,” to purchase gift cards to Et Cetera Shop to give families served by Hesston Resource Center.
