Pastoral transition

Pine Creek Chapel, Arcadia, Fla.

By Hannah Peachey

For three years we have enjoyed having Jeff Linthicum as our pastor.

Nov. 15 was his last Sunday here. God has called him to pastor First Mennonite Church in Berne, Ind. PCC will miss him and is thankful that God called him to us. We will be praying for him.

PCC has created a search committee dedicated to finding a new pastor. Four years ago we started a prayer group, because we were in search of a pastor at that time. Pastor Linthicum continued the “Hour of Prayer,” which has become comforting and faith building for many.

PCC participated in the Arcadia Fall Festival as part of our outreach to the community. We gave out free cookies and prayed for those who wished it. Kids from the community were dressed up in all kinds of costumes, and they played games to win free candy.

PCC is now viewing Focus on the Family’s “Truth Project” every Sunday and Wednesday evening. It is very interesting to hear what true history was before the rewrites. It addresses all aspects of a Christian worldview, giving viewers tools for evangelism and strengthening their own faith in the process. The lessons have informed on scientific evidence, philosophy, the relationship between God and man, government, and focused on God’s truth claims in all these areas and more. The church has grown immensely in knowledge and understanding of God’s plan for his creations.
