Caring for the whole person

By Rose M. King SaylorOn April 20, Bäretswil Choir from Zurich, Switzerland, presented a marvelous program of German songs with their orchestra.
The seniors heard from several health care providers May 12 with a theme of “Caring for the Whole Person.” One Sunday the Friendship and Caring committee had a lunch for our seniors and their caring person. Friendship and Caring is a source of connection with an older person and a younger person; remembering the senior on holidays, birthdays and anniversaries.
A retreat for Eastertide was on April 24. This was guided by Holly Shaub as she directed prayer, Scripture meditation and listening to God. Our congregational vision meeting was May 12 and facilitated by Marcus Smucker.
Five of our women traveled to Haiti for four days to work at an orphanage. This is through the Global Orphan Project.
Our oldest member, Mabel Mellinger, celebrated her 100th birthday May 22.
Recognition was given on May 23 to our 10 high school graduates.
Linda Helmus, pastor of Christian education, presented our Sunday message on May 30.

Pastor Harry Jarrett has been reminding us to be content and share our resources. He challenged us that contentment is natural wealth; luxury is artificial poverty.
