Church-building in Ecuador
Arthur Mennonite Church, Arthur, Ill.In June, Arthur Mennonite Church hosted a community-wide vacation Bible school with three other local churches. An average of 140 children attended each day of the weeklong event. This year’s theme was “SonQuest Rainforest,” and the kids’ mission goal went to two needy families affected by the recent flooding in Nashville.
A group of 19 youth and adults traveled to Elkhorn, W.Va., on a service and learning mission in June. They went as part of the SWAP program that is designed to help groups from all over serve in the Kentucky and West Virginia areas. The seven-day trip allowed the group to work with their hands to restore shelter to the individuals served, develop new relationships and strengthen ones with their own church family.
In July, five AMC members traveled to Riobamba, Ecuador, with 11 members from Hopedale Mennonite church on a mission trip. They stayed with Ecuador families and were introduced to the new Mennonite Church forming there through Don and Jan Rheinheimer, AMC supported missionaries. During the nine-day trip they helped get a new building ready for the church to move into.

Baptisms: Virgil and Sondra Gingerich, June 20.
