MWR assistant editor to work in Pennsylvania

By Mennonite Weekly Review staff

NEWTON, Kan. — Mennonite Weekly Review welcomes Sheldon C. Good of Telford, Pa., as assistant editor and web editor.

Good succeeds Celeste Kennel-Shank of Chicago, who is beginning full-time studies at the Divinity School at the University of Chicago. She announced her departure in an Aug. 23 editorial after two and a half years on the MWR staff.

Good, 23, will work from an office at Christopher Dock Mennonite High School in Lansdale, Pa.

He is a 2009 graduate of Goshen (Ind.) College with degrees in communication and business. In August he completed a yearlong internship with Sojourners, a non-profit organization in Washington. As communication assistant, Good’s responsibilities included coordinating media interviews for Jim Wallis, president and CEO of Sojourners, and writing for Sojourners’ God’s Politics blog.

Good previously worked as an associate for communication and leadership cultivation with Franconia Mennonite Conference, where he was guest editor for three conference publications, assistant coordinator of incoming Ministry Inquiry Program participants and researcher of congregational history.

Good lived in Cambodia for three months with Goshen College’s Study-Service Term and has studied interfaith history while traveling in Spain, Morocco, the United Kingdom and Mexico.

He is a member of Salford Mennonite Church at Harleysville, Pa., and board member of Living Hope Farm.

In addition to reporting, writing and editing, Good will continue to develop MWR’s website, building on Kennel-Shank’s work, including the expansion of MWR’s blog, The World Together.

Comments

  • MWR has a history of finding great people to write and work alongside Paul Schrag. I think of Rich Preheim, Laurie Oswald and, most recently, Celeste. All have not only written and edited well, but have shown a love for our church. I wish Celeste well as she goes back to school(what does she have to learn?) and pray that God's spirit will be with Sheldon as he begins his new assignment.
