Leaders of color share struggles and hopes
TAMPA, Fla. — In the first meeting of its kind since 1974, leaders of color from across Mennonite Church USA gathered to worship, fellowship and converse about the denomination’s direction and people of color’s participation in it.
About 90 people gathered Jan. 9-11, including board members, college faculty and staff, Instituto Biblico Anabautista (Anabaptist Biblical Institute) students, para-church organization staff and directors and members of constituency groups Iglesia Menonita Hispana (Hispanic Mennonite Church), African American Mennonite Association, and Native Mennonite Ministries.
