Intersection with evangelicalism
At Wheaton College, “the Harvard of the evangelical world,” Mennonites find commonalities with and distinctions from a dominant branch of American Christianity.

They also bring an Anabaptist influence to Wheaton, where many of the nation’s most rigorous evangelical Protestant academics study and teach. Wheaton employs about a dozen members of nearby Lombard Mennonite Church in the Chicago suburbs. The church, in turn, attracts students from the college. READ

The floor of a British Columbia Mennonite Brethren church collapsed April 25 during a Christian rock concert, injuring more than 40 people. More than 1,000 people attended the concert, headlined by the band Starfield of Vancouver. READ
Mennonite Weekly Review wins top award from press association
Mennonite Weekly Review received the first-place award in the Best in Class competition for national or international newspapers at the Associated Church Press annual convention April 22. MWR was also honored for front-page design and Ardie Goering's column. READ
MCC ships food aid to Zimbabwe amid election uncertainty
As Zimbabwe's political situation remain tense after March 29 elections, MCC is shipping 77 metric tons of wheat and soybeans to Zimbabwean communities where food has become scarce due to drought and economic turmoil. READ
CNN forum features Goshen students
If U.S. citizens thought of themselves first as global citizens, the country would be better off, seven Goshen College students told a CNN anchor who came to the college April 15 for a forum with first-time Mennonite voters.

The students also fielded CNN’s questions about issues in the presidential campaign and about the Mennonite peace position in the hourlong taping of the forum. CNN came to Indiana after taping similar forums in Pennsylvania and Michigan, and has sought out groups of people distinctive in each state. A CNN researcher found information about Mennonites when looking at both Pennsylvania and Indiana. READ


Candidates debate on faith at Messiah College
Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton squared off on how their private faiths would affect their public decisions as president in a “Compassion Forum” April 13 at Messiah College in Grantham, Pa., Religion News Service reports. READ
