Muslim dialogue
QOM, Iran — In this center of religious scholarship in Iran, 17 Mennonite Christian and Shiite Muslim professors found similarities and differences as they discussed peace and justice.
They took part in a dialogue conference hosted May 24-27 by the Imam Khomeini Education and Research Institute.

Thaw in U.S.-Iran relations?
It came down to the last minute, as usual. Last October Mennonite Central Committee organized a delegation from U.S. and Canadian Mennonite universities to Iran. Their purpose was to explore educational exchanges between schools in the two countries.

Iranian president, faith leaders speak at MCC-sponsored dialogue

AKRON, Pa. — The Sept. 25 interfaith dialogue in New York was Mennonite Central Committee’s fourth encounter with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad since 2006. Previous meetings have focused on barriers to peace between Iran and the West, including mutual suspicion and hostile rhetoric.

Talking with Iran would set new course
While Christians strive to love our enemies, governments can be expected — at least — to confront adversaries responsibly. Efforts to encourage talks between the United States and Iran aim to raise U.S. policy to this standard.
